A small town situated in the north-western parts of the Northern Cape. Founded in 1860 as Schietfontein and renamed in 1874 after the British colonial secretary of the time, Lord Carnarvon. Carnarvon is known for its corbelled houses and a popular stopover oasis en route to Namaqua.
